    LIBERTY/PATRIOT DISTRICT PREVAILS
    View From The Stands:
-- On Monday, 6/16, the team of Liberty/Patriot District all-stars - with Marshall's own Phil Sellery starting at Midfield - beat the team of Concord/National District all-stars in The Northern Virginia High School All Star Game by a score of 13-7. The game, originally scheduled for Thursday, June 12 was delayed by rain (which comes as a fitting end to one of the most rain-soaked seasons in Northern Virginia LAX history :-) until the make-up date on Monday. Named to the Liberty District first-team as a midfielder, Phil started at that position on the all-star team. He also played on the EMO unit (extra man offense) and finished the game with two of the team's thirteen goals. It was a terrific event, pitting seniors from Liberty/Patriot District programs (including Robinson, Woodson and Langley) against all-stars from the traditional powerhouse teams in the Concord/National Districts (including Oakton, Westfield, Mount Vernon and TJ).
-- Congratulations, Phil! Congratulations to the entire Liberty/Patriot District squad. And kudos to the game's co-sponsors - the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse and Advantage Lacrosse - who, together with the fans and the schools in Northern Virginia, are building a environment in which lacrosse can be taught and played at the highest levels in the sport. Thanks everyone!

    2003 LIBERTY DISTRICT AWARDS
    6/16/03 - MARSHALL PRIDE
    CONGRATULATIONS:
-- To Senior Co-Captain Phil Sellery - Phil was selected as First-Team All-District as well as Second-Team All-Region! Given the overall quality of play in the Liberty District - which includes some of the best teams in Maryland, DC and Virginia - and the overall strength and quality of the players in this Region, this is a terrific accomplishment and quite an honor! Phil ended his season as Marshall's all-time leading scorer with 105 total career goals, he scored goals in 31 consecutive games played since his sophomore year, and he received GCM's 2004 LAX Award for Most Outstanding Player. Phil is going on to play lacrosse at Roanoke College!
-- To Senior Co-Captain Tom Grattan - Tom is going on to play both lacrosse and football at Washington & Lee University! He also received GCM's 2004 LAX Award for Best Defensive Player.
