incoming shots

Another gorgeous night for lacrosse, and the Statesmen came out like gangbusters.

The first quarter score was something like 5-0 and I think the score at halftime was 8-1. The rest of the game wasn't quite as high-scoring as the first half, but it was exciting and hard fought all night long.

GREAT hitting, GREAT defense, TERRIFIC goalie work, and man we were hustling hard on every single play. View From The Stands had a terrific time out there at Jimmy Miller stadium tonight. (Thanks, everyone!)

The picture at left shows Senior Co-Captain Chris Brimsek in goal, facing a Seahawks attackman who's loading up for a sidearm blast through traffic. As you can see, Chris sees little more than just a glimpse of the shot as it sets up. Just amazing! (Click on the image for a larger view of the un-cropped photo.)

And while we're spotting players-in-the-pix, that's big Griffin Cummins rushing out to meet the South Lakes attacker head on. Griffin's one of six Freshmen playing on the Varsity squad this year.

Next Monday we're on the road against Woodson. The Cavs have a good squad and this is gonna be a challenge.
Be there! Marshall Pride!

The Statesmen had a good night controlling the faceoffs - and as our LAX-savvy Statesmen fans know,
that's a critical part of every game

The Seahawks attacker gets big air and fires from point-blank range!
But Chris Brimsek makes a HUGE block and the Statesmen D swallows up the rebound.
South Lakes scored only once in the first half.
