DAY-OF-RIVALS: APRIL 11
For the past 2 years the Men's lacrosse team has pre-purchased 40 tickets to see four top DI
schools play in the Face-Off Classic at Ravens Stadium to start the lacrosse season off.
This year we will be going to a new event called the Day-of Rivals, also at Ravens Stadium
in Baltimore, on April 11. This is a Marshall Lax team event that we want all the players
and coaches to participate in. Practice will be scheduled to accommodate the 11:00 am game
start time. The games will be Army vs. Navy and Hopkins vs. Maryland. We again have 40 tickets
at $15 and we have 10 parking passes at $15 each. Sign up early to reserve your seats by
contacting Doug Gehley at dgehley@cox.net. First come first reserve. Carpooling is strongly
suggested. This is less than a month away; order tickets now!
FUNDRAISING
We have two important events for our major fundraising for this year;
- Programs: these include action photos from games, senior highlights, team photos and of course
our supporters advertisements. Each family is required to submit at least one ad for the program and
preferably more. Some families collected three or more ads last year. Forms will be passed out at
Meet-The-Coaches night Tuesday March 3. As of Sunday night we had only 6 ads sent in; the deadline
was today, March 16. We will not have a program this year unless every family contributes at least
one ad, even if it's a family ad. This is the major fund-raising effort for the lacrosse team and
we need every dollar for equipment. I will extend the campaign for one more week and if we do not
get enough interest then we will not produce the Program; That would be a shame for the 14 seniors
after having done this the last 3 years.
- Honey Baked Hams; the Men's Lax team will be selling products from Honey Baked Hams for Easter and Passover.
Each player will be required to sell a minimum number of hams or turkeys or make the appropriate donation for the
team. The wrestling team made over $800 during the Christmas season doing the same so we hope to clear at least
that much. All money goes for much needed equipment that no longer can be supplied by the Activities Office due to
budget shortfalls.

SUPPORT THE TEAM - WEAR THE GRIFFIN
At the Meet the Parents Night we sold the Marshall lacrosse hats to many team parents and raised $180 for future
equipment. Make sure you get one at the Langley game and join your fellow lacrosse supporters by wearing the blue
toppers to the games. Let's have the same unity in the stands that the kids have on the field. Hats are $20 and will be
sold at the ticket table. Buy a hat and get two Marshall Statesman license plate frames for free.
