VIEW FROM THE STANDS
-- A special thanks to Bob Williams (Casey's Dad), who was the GCM LAX Parent Liaison during 2004, and to Penny Gentry (Mark's Mom), who coordinated many of the Lacrosse Booster activities and who was extremely helpful in supplying information for the Web page.
(Everyone should give some real thought about what you can do to help out next year!)
-- Thanks again, everyone. And congratulations to the team. MARSHALL PRIDE!
5/7/04
SCHEDULE CHANGE: The Varsity McLean game has been rescheduled for Monday, May 10. The JV McLean game has been canceled and will not be made up.

VIEW FROM THE STANDS:
Madison 13, Marshall 1 - JV at Home
-- The JV played very hard but struggled to clear the ball from their defensive end. Of course, broken clears have a habit of turning into transition scoring chances for the other team and that's just what happened here: Madison scored a lot of their goals in transition. The JV's only score of the game came in the second quarter.
-- Although it was a tough game and the score was one-sided, View From The Stands could see some real growth and improvement in this JV squad. Indeed, both the JV and Varsity played much better games than the most recent outing at Langley.

SCHEDULE CHANGE: The Varsity and JV Woodson games have been rescheduled for Saturday, May 1.

VIEW FROM THE STANDS:
Fairfax 5, Marshall 2 - JV at Home
-- The JV squad played hard and showed a strong defense (important since the ball was in Marshall's zone for much of the time). GCM was down 1-0 at the end of the first quarter and down just 2-1 at the half. After a scoreless third quarter, we tied the game 2-2 to start the fourth quarter, but then gave up the final 3 goals of the game. The final score was 5-2, but it was a close game and well-played against one of the best teams on the schedule.
-- Game Notes: Sam Mencarini and Steven White scored the goals for Marshall. Stephen Armstrong started his first game in goal in place of Garlin Sulser and played very well, recording several saves.

VIEW FROM THE STANDS:
South Lakes 7, Marshall 1 - JV at South Lakes
-- This was a tough defensive game, and a good learning experience for players on both sides of the ball. Actually, both South Lakes and Marshall had trouble clearing the ball effectively. The score at the half had the Seahawks ahead, but it was close: 3-0 South Lakes. In the second half, the Statesmen got on the scoreboard with a goal by John Zettler, but the Seahawks JV pulled away to take the 7-1 win.

VIEW FROM THE SIDELINES:
Marshall 8, Lee 3 - Varsity at Lee
-- Both Jake Oster and Chris Brimsek received game balls for great efforts. Probably one of our best all-around games this year. Lee has a very young team also and stayed with us for the first half...then we took over the game. Great work by all the guys.
4/13/04
SCHEDULE CHANGE: The Varsity and JV Fairfax games have been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 21.
3/25/04
VIEW FROM THE STANDS:
Marshall 14, Hayfield 13 - Varsity at Home
-- We had a FABULOUS come-from-behind win last night! It was a beautiful warm evening where GCM put in the winning goal in the last two minutes of the game. The Statesmen were behind by a score of 3-10 at one point in the game, then the guys pulled together and rallied back to win... 14-13!
3/18/04
SCHEDULE CHANGE: The Varsity and JV Edison games have been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 31.
